Philosopher, Author, Lecturer

"Making philosophy and art visible in everyday life and fostering dialogue in a global world are just some of my goals. Since 2011, I have been designing and implementing projects for schools, universities, companies, and private individuals both at home and abroad."

Lisz Hirn (born 1984 in Austria) studied humanities and voice in Graz, Paris, Vienna, and Kathmandu. She works as a philosopher, writer, and lecturer in youth and adult education and participates as a freelance artist in international art projects and exhibitions. In addition, she completed a diploma course in "practice-oriented project management" in 2017.

The focus of her philosophical and academic work lies in philosophical anthropology, political philosophy, intercultural ethics, and philosophical practice. Engaged in intercultural dialogue, she serves as chairperson of the Association for Practice-Oriented Philosophy and is on the board of the Society for Applied Philosophy (GAP). She has worked as a guest lecturer at Kathmandu University in Nepal and has lectured at Sophia University and Nihon University in Tokyo as well as at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima. In 2015, she also taught at the École Supérieure Roi Fahd de Traduction in Tangier, Morocco.

From October 2015 to January 2017, she was a f Fellow am Forschungsinstitut für Philosophie in Hannover. From December 2018 to February 2019, she was a Residency Awardee at the renowned Adishakti Laboratory for Arts Research in Tamil Nadu, India. Since 2014, she has been teaching Philosophical Practice at the University of Vienna’s ULG Philosophische Praxis and, since autumn 2020, she has also served as a university lecturer at the Institut für Architektur und Entwerfen (Research Area: Residential Design & Design) at TU Wien.

Lisz Hirn currently lives and works in Vienna.
